Absolute Value
The absolute value of a
number is its distance from zero on the number line. For example, -7 is 7
units away from zero, so its absolute value would be 7. And 7 is also 7
units away from zero, so its absolute value would also be 7.
Thus, the absolute value of a number refers to the magnitude
of the number, without regard to its sign. The absolute value of -1 and 1 is
1, the absolute value of -2 and 2 is 2, the absolute value of -3 and 3 is 3, and
so on.
